Year Round Programs

Barnyard Opening or Closing
In this fun-filled hour, your family has the opportunity to go through our entire morning or evening barnyard routine. Get us close and hands-on with the animals as we go through feeding, watering, animal enrichment, and brushing off our chickens and goats. You’ll also enjoy a short goat walk.
Available 7 days a week.
Barn Openings: around 9:00 AM
Barn Closings: between 4:00 PM-5:00 PM

Goat Walks
Our Nigerian Pygmy goats require a lot of enrichment and exercise to stay happy and healthy. Help us provide them with the best possible care by taking them on a forest trail walk with one of our Naturalists.

Night Hikes
Join us as we hike through our 33-acre forest under the moonlight! Meet our Naturalist around a campfire and get introduced to some of our nocturnal animals, including our great horned owl. Keep your eyes and ears alert for all the life that hides in the cover of night.

Fall Only Programs (Sept-Nov)

Apple Cidering
Experience the sweet delights of this fall program. Join us with your family to operate an old-fashioned cider press, creating fresh apple cider from locally sourced apples. Enjoy sampling your homemade cider and take some home with you! Additionally, depending on time, the program may feature a visit to our barnyard to feed the animals with leftover treats.

Creepy Crawlers
Get in the spooky spirit of Halloween with some of the Nature Center’s creepy crawlers! Experience up close encounters with snakes, tarantulas, hissing roaches and other mysterious creatures. Learn about what they need to survive in their habitat. You may learn that they’re not as scary as you think!

Winter Only Programs (Dec-Feb)

All About Owls
It’s Great Horned Owl mating season, so there’s no better time to get to know our majestic feathered friends. Visit with two owl species and learn all about their behavior, diet, and amazing adaptations. Put your senses to the test on a twilight walk through the forest where you can listen for their calls and spot their silhouettes.

Winter Birds
Winter is the perfect time to appreciate native bird species in our area. As the trees shed their leaves, the views are clear: excellent conditions to spot these birds. Marvel at how cardinals, owls, bluejays, and other species endure harsh East Coast winters. You’ll meet live birds up close, learn to identify wild birds with a Naturalist, and build a bird feeder!

Spring Only Programs (March-May)

Seasonal Maple Sugaring (March only)
Starting in March, you can learn about the origins of maple sugaring. Uncover how Native Americans first discovered maple sugar, and how we employ modern techniques to collect and produce syrup at our outdoor sugaring sites. A small seasonal treat will be given on the day of your program.

Pond Exploration (April & May only)
As the snow starts to melt and the days get warmer, spring is the perfect time to visit the Nature Center to see which wild animals are waking up after a long winter. One of the liveliest and loudest places on the property, full of quacks and peeps, is our vernal pond where frogs, salamanders, turtles, and an amazing array of invertebrates are all starting to gather. Along with a naturalist, your family will get to hike to our pond and explore the water using dip nets and buckets.
