Campers become young naturalists as they dive into the fascinating world of ecology, biology, and environmental science. Through daily outdoor adventures, close-up animal encounters, and immersive nature-based activities, campers learn something new every single day. Whether they’re investigating pond life with dip nets, studying animal behavior, exploring woodland ecosystems, or learning how to identify native species, every moment at camp is an opportunity for growth.

In addition to academic enrichment, our program encourages creative thinking, critical observation, teamwork, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Campers don’t just hear about science—they live it. By interacting with our unique collection of animal ambassadors, including our giant sulcata tortoises and green tree iguana, children build curiosity and compassion while gaining a deeper understanding of the roles animals play in their environments.

Campers will:
– Investigate real-life habitats through guided exploration of our forest trails and pond
– Participate in science-based activities that support continuous learning
– Learn about animal care, conservation, and ecological balance
– Engage in outdoor games and activities that reinforce teamwork and problem solving.

Summer Camp runs in weekly sessions, allowing families to choose one or multiple weeks.

  • My 8-year old daughter loved interacting with the animals, hiking, and the nice staff. It was a week of fun for her at the Nature Center. Very conveniently located- yet very calm and serene. Staff is super nice. Definitely recommend-
all and anything here!
  • A camp reviewer said, The Nature Center’s camp is the perfect balance of education and hands-on exploration.
  • My child enjoyed the crafts, playing outside, and the camp counselors. I would recommend the full week camps, but also raise awareness of the single day school holiday camps- great for parents and caregivers with a 9 to 5!
  • The Nature Center at Greenburgh’s camp was the best camp that Leo ever participated in! says another parent.
  • After several people recommended the Nature Center, I signed my six year old up for spring camp. She loved to spend the time outdoors, learn about nature, meet different animals, arts and crafts, and most of all- playing and making new friends. It was a great experience overall!
  • We highly recommend the Nature Center’s camps and programs to any family! reviewed one parent of our campers.
  • One of the things I appreciate most is the small size of camps. The group is kept small enough that I never feel like my kids are getting lost in the shuffle. The staff is warm, confident, and engaged—both at drop-off and pick-up— which gives me so much peace of mind as a parent.
  • We had such a wonderful experience!
My twin boys attended and it was truly a great week for them. Every single time, they come home excited, inspired, and full of new knowledge. I’m always so impressed by the fun facts they share and how much they genuinely learn while still having so much fun.
  • My children were excited to go back each day, which says everything.
We’re so grateful for the positive experiences they’ve had.
  • A camp review from a parent reads: My son absolutely loved seeing the animals, talking with the counselors, and participating in the snowball fight! It was spectacular and we highly recommend winter break camp to all children! He also wants to volunteer here when he grows older.
